Wedding Miss or Wedding Bliss?

Weddings are stressful enough to plan without a pandemic. 2020 has proven to be a wedding planning nightmare for some. Popular wedding venues, local florists, and favorite caterers may have shut down. Important at-risk family members can’t safely attend.
Fear of exposing family and friends to a potentially deadly virus, couples are confronted with the dilemma of postponing or cancelling their wedding. Do they elope now and have a big ceremony when it’s safer for grandma?  Do they have an intimate ceremony now and forego a big wedding altogether? Or do they throw caution to the wind and move forward with their big wedding plans?  Does the state they live in allow gatherings of 50 or more? If so, what if that changes at the last minute? Yes, getting married in 2020 presents many unique challenges, but weddings are still happening. Where there is love there is a way.

My Top Five Tips For Planning A Wedding In 2020
  1. Don’t. I mean if you’re in love now, you’ll still be in love in a year or two, right? But if you can’t wait…
  2. Elope. I have performed several intimate ceremonies since the pandemic hit. Weddings with 10 people or less can be equally as special and save you money.
  3. Redo. Elope this year and plan the wedding of your dreams in the future when it’s safer.
  4. Rethink. This is the time to think outside the traditional wedding box. Couples are having “drive by” weddings. Ceremonies at drive-in theaters. Zoom weddings. Live- streamed weddings. Be creative.
  5. Breathe. Pay special attention to your mental health during this uncertain time. Turn off the news.    Take the dog for a walk. Load up on fresh fruits and veggies. Take a slow deep breath. Deep breathing is one of the easiest ways to lower stress in your body. When you breathe deeply, you send a message to your brain to calm down and relax. Do this often throughout the day, no matter what your wedding plans are!

Carrie, I love this!! Great tips! Mary and I as you know will still be getting married this year but with only a small amount of people. We plan a big party next year or whatever it’s safe. We couldn’t be happier that you are our officiant!!!
